Duracell 600 Watt Powerpack Pro

Part of the Procter & Gamble Company, Duracell is a leading global brand with high-performance alkaline batteries. Duracell also provides a range of portable power solutions. The PowerPack 600 is one of their products. It is ideal for anyone looking for a small, useful portable power unit for emergency preparedness or for recreation. The stand-alone battery based power source will not replace a generator. But if you are in the market for a portable power supply which is silent and easy to carry, then this product is one to consider. In this article, we will look at some of the features that come with this portable power source, along with some plus and minus points.

The Duracell 600 Watt Powerpack Pro DR600PWR is a replacement option for the DRPP600 that is no longer available. Both versions have an emergency light built in that comes in handy in case of emergencies. The newer version is also no longer manufactured with an emergency AM / FM radio which can actually be very useful in an emergency situation. But the Pro model comes equipped with two USB outlets that you can use to charge two USB devices (smartphone, tablet, etc) simultaneously. Up to 2.4 Amps of current can be supplied by the dual USB ports.

When it comes to electrical specifications, the 600 Powerpack Pro is powered by an internal sealed, non-spillable lead-acid battery. Battery capacity is 18Ah. This unit generates 120 volt, 60Hz AC power. Equipped with multiple AC outlets and one DC socket, it is designed to power small 115 V AC appliances and electronic devices such as laptops, TVs, and stereos. The continuous power rating is 480 W. Peak AC output surge capacity is 750 W.

Some appliances with high surge requirements may be impossible to operate from the Duracell Powerpack Pro. It will not be powerful enough to handle, for example, a sump pump, eletric heater, or a portable AC unit. The Duracell Powerpack Pro is not intended for use as an uninterruptible power supply. It will not come on automatically if there is a power outage. It is also important to keep in mind that the Duracell has a modified sine wave inverter. Some AC products can only be powered by true sine wave output. Most run fine on MSW inverters however.

The Duracell Powerpack Pro will automatically shut down in the event of an overload or overheating. The system also can detect low battery voltage and shut down automatically to preserve the battery. Its fuel-free operation allows it to be used both indoors and outdoors. As a jump starter, it provides enough power to jumpstart 8-cylinder automobiles. You can use it to jump-start a boat engine that has a 12V starting battery. Located on the front panel is a Clamps Reversed LED that illuminates when the system detects reverse polarity.

There are a number of ways to recharge the Duracell 600 Watt Powerpack. It can be recharged from a typical household power outlet. It may take up to 24 hours to get it fully recharged from a completely discharged state. What is great about the Duracell Powerpack Pro is it offers “plug-in-and-forget” charging system. You can leave it connected to the AC cord when it is not in use. The charging current automatically reduces to a maintenance charge mode once the battery is fully charged. With a DC charging cable, you can recharge it from your vehicle as you drive. The new model does not come with a special solar panel jack. It can be charged using a solar panel via the DC port.

For a “real” portable solar generator, you can buy the Goal Zero Yeti 400. It has a built-in pure-sine wave inverter, making it a great option for sensitive electronics. However, As for price point the Yeti 400 is far more expensive. It sells for around $450. The Duracell 600 PowerPack Pro is priced under $200. It also provides features such as a 150 PSI air compressor which is ideal for roadside emergencies. If you are on a limited budget it may be a better choice for you. Of course, everyone has different needs and expectations.

The Duracell 600 Watt Powerpack Pro is one of the most popular portable power packs at Many people have given it 4 or 5 stars which means they adore this product. No product can satisfy everyone however. There are negative comments that have been attributed to the portable power supply. One of the most common complaints about the Powerpack Pro is in regard to its long recharge time. Further, at 22.0 lbs, many reviewers consider it heavy.

Despite such negative feedback, most of the customer reviews have been positive. The wide versatility, along with its low retail price make it a compelling option. Some have reported that the battery drains too quickly but it may be due to the customers expecting more from this little power supply. Battery powered power packs are basically intended to serve as short-term backups. They are not designed to supply a huge amount of power for a long time. The Duracell 600 Watt Powerpack Pro is not perfect. It may or may not work for you. But based on the reviews, it is worth a try.
